Link

Here's a link to an article by David Jenkins that appeared in the Canberra Times care of The Guardian and I thought it was very relevant to this project - the Canberra Times called it ' Don't Make Friends with Writers'.

  2. Yeah, it is interesting, however I don't think I've got it working as a link (i'm still learning how to do this) so you'll have to cut and paste - sorry... How do you get hyperlinks?

  4. hey, thanks Robert! for some reason the cutnpaste wasn't working for me but that did. Lucy to do that you have to go [a href="stick the address in here"]Write the text you want to show up as the link here [/a].

Like that, only you replace those square brackets with pointy ones <>. complex, eh?

as for the article, I think he was kind of joking but I wanted him to end up saying that in the end the point of fiction is not portraiture - that any portraiture is an incidental ingredient - but maybe he was saying that in a light-hearted way.

  5. I actually think he ended up being relatively serious - in that he was going to live on as a character in a book (tho somewhat warped in appearance!), that writers were bower-birds collecting life to make fiction. While the ideas aren't new to us and the tone was light, I thought he came to the conclusion that fiction changes life? L xx
